I’ve been listening to John O’Donahue lately, the late poet mystic, seems to be calling me home. This is the slice of wisdom and wonder that met me today and so as I prepare to walk out the door to visit a sacred meditation garden, one of my favorite silent spaces, I share this quote with you.
Stillness is vital to the world of the soul.
If as you age you become more still, you will discover that stillness
can be a great companion. The fragments of your life will have time to unify, and the places where your soul-shelter is wounded or broken will have time to knit and heal. You will be able to return to yourself. In this stillness, you will engage your soul.
Many people miss out on themselves completely as they journey through life. They know others, they know places, they know skills, they know their work, but tragically, they do not know themselves at all.
Aging can be a lovely time of ripening when you actually
meet yourself, indeed maybe for the first time.
– John O’Donahue
I am excited to be ripening, preparing, planning some potent and brand new offerings for the Fall, but that can wait for another time.
It is this, the SACRED STILLNESS, making space that invites us forward to meet our self in ever changing ways, that inspires me most!
You who are still, you who are seeking, you who are aging, sage-ing and ripening in unexpected ways “meet me here” and take a moment to honor the stillness that is your haven.
How can you create with stillness today?
